A Bit About Therapy and the Therapist
Through the use of various psychotherapy methods, collaborative treatment measures, and life experience my clients develop life-changing habits to help cope with any of life’s various obstacles. Therapy sessions are designed to address personal issues openly and safely while providing clients with effective tools to help them move through life more effectively.
The Therapist - My name is Lori Storm and I am from all over South Eastern Wisconsin. I graduated from UW-Parkside with my Bachelor's Degree in Music and from UW-Milwaukee with my Master's Degree in Counseling in Psychology. I have specific training in the following: Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Juvenile Sexual Offenders, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (trainer), 7 Challenges (trainer), GAIN-I (trainer), Hypnosis, Comprehensive Resource Model, Alcohol and Other Substance Abuse, and supervision from psychologists through an attachment perspective through all of my training. This therapeutic knowledge and my life experiences along with empathy, compassion, acceptance, and understanding are the basis of my therapeutic tools that I have to offer every one of my clients during their journey through change to reach better living.
Individual therapy is always unique to the person. Individual therapy addresses current and past issues with anything from moods to relationships, identity, trauma, etc. I am knowledgeable and able to treat complex trauma, LGBT+, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, men's issues, and more from an attachment perspective. Each individual may also need to include others in treatment which is welcome. Modes of therapy vary with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Play Therapy, etc., and primary mode being Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM).
Children and Adolescent Therapy
Therapy for children and adolescents is tailored for each individual and their needs, including family needs and dynamic. It is important that family be involved as each growing young person is immersed in their family environment and also a product of this family. The family works as a unit and each person cannot be expected to change without help and support, and maybe change, from the other members of the family. Therapy is a safe and honest means of adjustment and healing together.
